Katie’s wedding style

Katie has amazing thick hair, full of ringlets.  I brushed them out (seen here) but she certainly knows how to style her hair!  On her sister’s wedding day, she came in for a blow-out/style and it was a pleasure to give this beautiful girl a different look!

Courtney’s second appointment was as delight as the first and I was surprised when I discovered she wanted me to cut her hair short!  So, here is a photo of her previous cut and then her newest cut and highlight!

Even if it’s not broken, it’s still fun to fix it!  Change is so great!

A word about formal hair…

•May 27, 2010 • Leave a Comment

Formal hair is tricky.  Part of me is a HUGE fan of a trial run and part of me thinks they are deceiving.  I say this because when a trial is scheduled and a look decided upon, it is nearly IMPOSSIBLE to replicate perfectly that same design.  Hair is unique.  I am firm believer in letting it do whatever it wants to do.  Sometimes people have very unrealistic expectations of what their hair will do, or even do again.  When you do your own hair at home, doesn’t it do something different (even slightly) every day?  So it is with formal hair.  I look back at some of the formal hair I have done over the years and often I can’t remember how I did  a specific look.  My commitment with formal hair is that you will not leave without loving your hair, but please hold that dream hair with an open hand so that something magical can happen as the hair moves and lays naturally and effortlessly.  The best updo is what your hair will do with a little strategic coaching!  Happy Styling!
